The Westknits Mystery Knit A Long (or MKAL) is here again! An annual mystery shawl knit-along hosted by Stephen West. Every year, thousands of knitters cast on a new shawl, not knowing what they'll end up with!

This year is the 16th Westknits MKAL!

MusiKAL promises a mysterious collage of bold stitches, unexpected directions, and vibrant colour play! Get ready to step into the neon-lit world of Mystery MusiKAL, where retro beats meet modern knits.

This shawl is written for four voices -your colours! From smooth gradients that flow like a melody or four clashing shades for a dramatic, high-energy score. With each weekly clue, your Mystery MusiKAL shawl will build into a bold finale worthy of a standing ovation.

We've been curating kits these past few years using Bio Balance a gorgeous GOTS organic certified blend of 55% Organic Wool / 45% Organic Cotton. This yarn works perfectly with our warm beachside October climate.

This year we cheekily used inspiration from MKAL 2023 Geogradient shawl to create gradients which build to a crescendo. 

Each kit contains 100g (2 x 50g skeins of each colour) of 4 gradient colours (light to dark) that we think suits the Westknits brief.
