Workshop: Knit SOCKS - BASIC techniques (3 hours)
Learn to knit a simple top down sock
Using the "Rye" sock pattern from Tin Can Knits, you will knit a small top down sock.
A quick knit in DK/worsted weight yarn (we used Woolganics and Millpost merino) you will cast on at the cuff, then work in the round to the heel.
A heel flap and some simple short rows help form the heel. We will then continue knitting until we reach the toe, which is shaped with decreases. Finally we will master Kitchener stitch to close the toe seam.
Warm feelings (and feet) all round.
Please bring along to class: Materials and preparation list (just a small amount!) will be sent when you enroll. Pattern can be found here Please bring a printed copy with you to class.
Prerequisites: Knitting in the round using magic loop, DPN or two circulars. Knit, purl. Simple decreases ( K2tog and SSK - we will discuss these in class)

"Making things is one of my ways to tell a story - by shaping the material at hand, I am able to give voice to the tales of everyday life. Sometimes, those materials have their own words to add and so the story can often have a twist or an ending that surprises even the author."
