Workshop: Top Tips for Knit Success (2.5 hours)
This class is for those who are ready to start on a 'proper' project but are intimidated by pattern terminology, gauge & tension squares and would like a little hand holding to get started.
Marianne will share her experience and top tips to help make your next project a success.
We have the following wish list of topics to cover - fingers crossed we can get through most of them:
Discuss aspects of pattern selection, yarn & needle choice, tension, swatching and measuring gauge. Choosing a pattern, Substituting yarn.
Casting on tips. Provisional crochet cast on and grafting (Kitchener stitch)
Tips for making neat selvedges/edge stitches
Picking up stitches along an edge
Keeping track of your knitting
Binding off. Elizabeth Zimmerman's better bind off
Techniques for Weaving in ends
Please bring along to class : Bring along needles plus oddments of yarn, crochet hook if you have one, tapestry/wool needle. A swatch of some kind to practice weaving in ends. Feel free to bring along your pattern options and questions.
