Workshop: Crochet AMIGURUMI - INTERMEDIATE (3 hours)
Amigurumi (Ah-mee-goo-roo-me) (literally means crocheted or knitted stuffed toy) is the Japanese art of crocheting (or knitting) small, usually cute stuffed animals and anthropomorphic creatures.
In this class you will learn the amigurumi technique by making a Koala. You start with an adjustable magic ring and from there a series of increases and decreases creates the shapes of your new friend.
Skills covered – pattern reading, working in the round, magic ring, invisible decreases, joining techniques.
The Koala pattern from Hooked in the Hills https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/monty-the-koala is one of the patterns used to make fundraising items for the Animal Rescue Craft Guide https://www.facebook.com/groups/arfsncrafts/about/ We encourage you to look at all the things you could make and donate to help out the animal rescues.
Please bring along to class : 50g of 8ply yarn (we used Patons Dreamtime Merino 8ply) and 3.0mm hook (3.5mm is fine also). Alternatively you can purchase these items in store when you arrive. Toy stuffing, black yarn, white yarn and safety eyes will be provided.
Prerequisites : have completed crochet basics or know how to chain, double crochet, treble crochet. Suitable for beginners with basic stitch knowledge as well as those at intermediate or advanced level.

"I am a crafty person with multiple interests and love to give new techniques a try. I crochet. I knit. I have also started machine knitting.
I also used to do needlework (cross-stitch, embroidery, tapestry).
I sew. I used to make beaded earrings. I have also done papercraft. As I said I love to try new things.
I love having lots of projects on the go (crochet and knitting) with various skill levels. Which is great for variety but it means I take longer to finish each project."
